I have another handmade vintage journal to share with you today.

As you can see by the post title, it's called
"Romancing the  Sea."
This journal is made from upcycled chipboard
and is covered with denim.

Vintage Seamstress Junk Journal

I was approached by Yvonne at ScreechOwlStudio on Etsy to do a Design Team (DT) project a few weeks back.  I'm so excited to share the completed project with you.  I used Yvonne's digital kit called "Vintage Seamstress" and the add-on kit that goes with the kit.  It's such a beautiful kit with lots of ephemera!  Even so, I got carried away and the Vintage Junk Journal I created a huge, chunky Journal.

*please click on photos to enlarge them*

Front cover

This journal measures 7 3/4" tall x 5 5/8" wide and the spine is 2 1/2"  The journal has 4 signatures and 115+ pages, counting fronts and backs of pages.

Besides the digital kit from Screech Owl Studio, I was also used Graphic 45's A Ladies Diary papers and some other sewing-themed items I had in my stash.

Spine (without charm dangle)

The journal was made from a food box which I covered with papers from Graphic 45.  I, then, wrapped the journal in lace.  Tyvek was used to reenforce the spine.

Back cover

Booklets

I created 3 small booklets which now sit in fabric's pockets and provide more journaling space.

IF you'd like to see more of this journal, please go to my YouTube Channel, here.

This Journal has already sold.

My Etsy Shop is PorchSwingDesigns.  You can find it here.

Prayer Journal

Hello!

I really enjoy making journals and I have a new prayer journal to share with you.  I named her "Grace" and I really enjoyed making her.  The cover is made using a 9" x 12" clasp envelope, it has 78+ pages, counting fronts and backs of pages and not counting doilies, bags, or anything else but full pages.  Her measurements, after adding two signatures, are 9" x approx 5 1/2."

Front cover

The two signatures were hand-sewn to the cover using waxed linen thread and the envelope used was reinforced with Tyvek (as I do with all my envelope journals) to give it added strength.  I also machine stitched around the border of the envelope.

Back cover

After assembly, I added the lace you see around the top, bottom, and spine of the cover. More lace, along with fibers, ribbon, and butterflies or flowers were added to the journal pages, tags, pockets, etc.

I used the "September Chic" digital kit from NectarsCreations on Etsy to make this journal. Click here.

I also used some "prayer journaling cards" from TsunamiRose on Etsy. Click here.

This journal has already sold.

Victorian Women Journal

Hello there,

I have another journal to share with you but I'm going to have to share it with you in the form of a video instead of photos, as I usually do.  I forgot to take photos before I mailed it off but managed to grab a screen shot from the video, so will share that here:

I hope you will take the time to watch the video~

Since I'm so new at making vids, I hope you will be patient with me while I learn!  lol
Most everything is explained in the video, so let's roll it...

I'm really enjoying making journals and hope that I inspire others to make them as well.  :)

Thank you for stopping by!
