Prayer Journal

Hello!

I really enjoy making journals and I have a new prayer journal to share with you.  I named her "Grace" and I really enjoyed making her.  The cover is made using a 9" x 12" clasp envelope, it has 78+ pages, counting fronts and backs of pages and not counting doilies, bags, or anything else but full pages.  Her measurements, after adding two signatures, are 9" x approx 5 1/2."

The two signatures were hand-sewn to the cover using waxed linen thread and the envelope used was reinforced with Tyvek (as I do with all my envelope journals) to give it added strength.  I also machine stitched around the border of the envelope.

After assembly, I added the lace you see around the top, bottom, and spine of the cover. More lace, along with fibers, ribbon, and butterflies or flowers were added to the journal pages, tags, pockets, etc.

I used the "September Chic" digital kit from NectarsCreations on Etsy to make this journal. Click here.

I also used some "prayer journaling cards" from TsunamiRose on Etsy. Click here.

Graphic 45 Once Upon a Time Notepads with cover and ink pen

Hello!

I've been making notepad covers for jr. legal pads again!  I love to make books, so making a cover for a notepad is even more fun.  This time it's all about Fairies!  <3

I used Graphic 45 "Once Upon a Springtime" designer paper for all three of the books I made and each is a different color.  The covers measure
5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches and are 3/4 inch thick at the spine.  The notepad is 5" x 8."

First up is a teal colored book, front cover.

These handmade books were made using medium weight chipboard,
so they are very sturdy.  I made them so that the notepad can be removed
when it is "used up" and another notepad put back in its place.
So, these covers should last for a long time.

I used Stickles on the Fairies wings and on the frame around the Fairies.

The peach colored notebook is made a bit differently, as I added crocheted lace ties to close the book.

You will find these notebooks in my Etsy shop,
PorchSwingDesigns, here.

Sail Away Vintage Journal

Hello there,

I have a new Vintage Journal to share with you!  I love living close to the ocean, so I was inspired to make a journal that reflects the sea.

*click the photos for a larger view*

Front cover
This journal is 7 3/4" x 5 3/8" with a 2" spine. It has 2 handsewn signatures (sewn with a 3-hole pamphlet stitch), holds 84 pages, counting fronts and backs, and has lots of space for journaling.  Many of the pages are coffee or tea stained and oven baked. It has charms attached to the spine on a removable chain.

It contains tags (many with charms), ephemera, bags, pockets, envelopes, tuck spots, corner flaps, 2 paper clips, and some Prima Seashore metal clips and more! It closes with a Tim Holtz hitch post and a black stretchy clip.

The cover is reinforced with "Tyvek" for added strength and is made from a food box which was cut to the size needed.
