Hello!

Welcome to my blog!  I'm thankful that you found me, so please, let me tell you a little about myself:

I'm an avid and longtime crafter and I've done just about every type of crafting one can imagine.  Around 2003 I found PC Crafter's Message Board and I met some amazing woman from across the globe who taught me a lot about paper crafting and how to use graphics software to create many beautiful items.  From that "education," I built a website and sold custom-made handcrafts for many years.

In late 2011 or early 2012, I discovered a wonderful Craft shop in my area.  It was called Memories of Time and there I discovered Copic markers and gorgeous papers and a new passion began.  Unfortunately, it closed its doors in 2016.

However, later in 2016, I was making albums and cards but discovered Junk Journals and a whole new world opened up to me.  I opened an Etsy shop and a YouTube channel in April 2018 and began selling Vintage Junk Journal all over the U.S.

In early 2018, I started designing digital journal kits (printables) that I sell to others who want to make junk journals.  In June of 2018, I opened a "Porch Swing Designs/Marilou" Facebook page to help get the news out about my journals and built a new "Porch Swing Designs" website.  In December of 2018, I was able to add my Etsy Shop to my website.

Yes, there have been lots of changes but they have all stretched me and caused me to grow my business and that's FUN!

I love to make cards, journals, albums, boxes, etc., so you just never know what project I'll share with you next!
I hope you will stop by often to see what I've been making.

My hubby and I live on the beautiful Oregon coast.  I have 4 grown children; three sons and one daughter, as well as, several "by heart" daughters whom I've been blessed with along the way.  I have 9 Grandchildren and 4 "by heart" Grands who have given me a bunch Great-Grands!  Yep, I am surely blessed!
I love the Lord and do my best to live for Him daily.  He has been good to me, ALWAYS, even when I didn't deserve it.  Each and every day is a God-given gift, for which I am thankful.

I have always believed that inside all of us is the ability to create beautiful things. I hope, by sharing my projects with you, that you will find your gift of creativity.  It is there, please trust me, waiting for you to release it.  Sometimes it helps to have a mentor or teacher to show us how to start, but then your creative gift will be released and you'll find it in your soul.

May God bless your day!
